William Wilson FAIA is an architect, living and working in Portsmouth, Rhode Island as a sole practitioner. After graduating from Harvard College and Harvard University's Graduate School of Design, Wilson worked for Payette Associates in Boston from 1969 to 1995, working on medical centers as well as university and pharmaceutical laboratories. In 1995, he founded Wilson Architects, a design firm for college and university campus planning and academic building design, specializing in science engineering, laboratory design, classrooms and theater spaces. Wilson integrated interdisciplinary research and teaching planning into campus architecture. Wilson Architect's clients include colleges and universities in the South, such as Vanderbilt, Tulane and UNC Chapel Hill as well as in the northeast schools such as Harvard, Dartmouth, UMass Amherst. UMass Boston, U Delaware, University of Hartford, and Lehigh. Wilson became an expert in nano laboratory design, designing nano buildings in Ireland and Spain. MITnano is one of his showcased projects in nano lab design. By 2015, his firm expanded to 60 people and was sold to HGA in 2018. Wilson is licensed in the following states: MA, RI, CT, NY. In addition to his design work in the firm, William Wilson FAIA volunteered to serve as a trustee of the Preservation Society of Newport County in Rhode Island for 30 years, and continues to support their efforts in preservation and restoration. William Wilson FAIA currently designs wineries, residential and hospitality projects in New England.
