Located in the basement of Jadwin Hall in a former cyclotron facility, the Princeton Nanoscale Microscopy Laboratory (PNML) is designed for high precision measurements in condensed matter physics. The PNML provides six high bay experimental rooms, with an outer service ring for pumping and utilities and an inner quiet area for computing and controls. The six rooms provide a variety of features for nanoscience: 30 ton isolation plinths; two access levels (experiments above and cryogenics below); RF and EMI shielding; dedicated air handling including a heat removal mode; and large apparatus capability with large doors, cranes and an oversize lift.
